What is it about?

Parkinson’s Journey, the power to act

In the last decade, numerous researches have shown that physical activity is a complementary therapeutic approach to medication to alleviate many symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, as well as having a positive effect on quality of life.

For people living with Parkinson’s disease, symptoms may be a hindrance to motivation. However since inactivity may accelerate both physical and cognitive decline, it is crucial that they adopt an active lifestyle in order to help maintain their autonomy.

What is Parkinson’s Journey?

Parkinson’s Journey is the largest annual fundraising event for Parkinson’s disease in Quebec. Thousands of people participate in this event and take on the challenge of walking and exercising together in order to support people living with Parkinson’s disease.

During this event, a global goal is to reach 8,000 km of physical activities (walk, run, etc.). Consequently, each participant must record the distance achieved with the organizers and Parkinson Québec will compile the total.

Several regions of Quebec offer you a family circuit and an alternative challenge. You're up for a challenge? Please check the details of your local activities by visiting  your regional page.

Most of Parkinson’s Journey events will take place during the weekend of September 9th and 10th 2017.

Parkinson’s Journey, to support the cause

Parkinson’s Journey is a fundraising event that helps regional offices and organisations to offer services to the Parkinson's community  and to support research. Show your support  by making a donation to a participant, a team or to a regional event.

Parkinson’s Journey, a rallying event:

  • that has an impact in the life of persons living with Parkinson’s disease;
  • that gives regions resources to offer services in their community;
  • that allows you to practice exercise while supporting a cause;
  • that gives you the power to act!
