GENERAL AND REGISTRATION

ü How can I register to a Parkinson’s Journey?

1.    Online at www.parcoursparkinson.caSee the section ''How to register online'' 

2.    Fill out the paper form for registration and solicitation, in advance. On the day of the event, bring the slip and your envelope of donations collected to the reception table. Make sure you have completed the top section in order to speed up the registration process.

3.    On-site, the day of the event. See the details tab of your region.

ü How can I participate to Parkinson's Journey ?

There are three ways you can participate and affirm your power to act !

1.  Create an individual walker profile

2.  Create a team and become a walker 

3. Join a team as a walker

ü How to register online? 

To know how to register online. Watch our short tutorial video.

Your email address is your username, and you will be prompted to create a password to access your profile. A single e-mail address can only be used by one participant. 

By registering online, it is easier to approach your family and friends for donations.

ü  How to register on-site ? 

In order to facilitate your registration on-site, please fill out the registration and solicitation form. You can also ask the Parkinson organization in your area to send you this form by mail or e-mail, by going to the ‘’contact us’’ tab in the page of your region.

Bring your form with the completed "Participant Information" section.

You must bring all donations given directly to you (check or cash), make sure you filled out the "Contributions" section of your form by entering the details of your donors. For more information, see '' How can I administer a donation that is given to me directly ? ''.

If you have not completed the registration and solicitation form : 

1.    Go to the registration table.

2.    Fill out the form provided by the organizers.

3.    You can make a donation.
 

ü If I register online, do I need a paper registration form?

If you are considering receiving donations directly, in cash or by check, you will need a paper form. However, we advise you to refer people to the online donation platform at www.parkinsonsjourney. For more information on online donations, visit the '' Solicit my friends '' and '' How to donate online ? '' sections. 

To obtain the registration and solicitation form, please download it here. You can also ask the Parkinson organization in your area to send you this form by mail or e-mail.

On the day of the event, you must provide all donations that were given directly to you (check or cash), and complete the "Contributions" section of your form by entering the details of your donors. For more information, see '' How canI administer a donation that is given to me directly ? '' 
 

ü Is it possible to register several members of my family at the same time?

No, each participant must register separately and choose to participate either as an individual walker, or by joining or creating a team.

Registration can be done online or on-site (see above). 
 

ü Will I be charged on-site, on the day of the event? 

The activity is free and you are encouraged to collect donations by soliciting your entourage.

 

Fees may be added for the Alternative Challenge, for refreshments or for other activities, depending on the region. For more details, select the "Details" tab on the event page for your region.

 ü What is an alternative challenge ? 

The Alternative Challenge is an additional activity offered by your region to diversify your participation choices and surpass yourself. It can be a race, Nordic walking, Zumba, etc. To find out about the alternative challenge chosen by your region, check the "Details" tab at the top of the event page for your region.

  ü Is it possible to participate in both the walk and the alternative challenge ? 

For most regions, the walk and the alternative challenge take place at the same time. Check the schedule by checking the "Details" tab at the top of your event's page. It might be possible to participate to both activities.

üCan I bring my pet ?

It all depends on the policy of where your local event takes place.

For more information, you can consult the "Details" tab of the event in your area or contact the responsible person whose contact information should be accessible under the tab « Contact-us».

üCan I be accompagnied without the person being registered ? 

No. All accompanying persons must register and can do so on site (see above). 

 

TEAMS
üCan I register as a team ?  

Yes. Team enrollment allows you to mobilize more people and be able to set an even bolder fundraising goal and have a good time with your friends and family!

üShould there be a minimum number of participants per team ?

The team may contain the desired number of participants. (The more the merrier!)

To invite friends to join your team, see '' How can I invite friends and family to join my team? ''.

 ü Can I join an existing team even if I'm already registered as an individual walker ? 

  Yes !

1.    Access your profile (see below).

2.    In the tab "My activities", select the event for which you want to join a team

3.    Click on the "Join a team" section in the blue menu on the left of the screen.

4.    Search by team name and select the name of the team you want to join.

5.    Click "Join_recruitment".

You can leave the team at any time by clicking on the "Leave my team" section in the blue menu on the left of the screen.

 üCan I create a team even if I'm already registered as an individual walker ? 

 Yes !

1.    Access your profile (see below) 

2.    Click on «Create a team » in the blue menu on the left of your screen.

3.    Choose a name and determine the fundraising goal for the team.

4.    Click on « Create ».

Once the team is created, you can not delete it or join an existing team.

 

You can, however, at any time modify the profile of your team. For more information, see '' How to customize my profile or my team profile ''.



MY ONLINE PROFILE

ü 
How can I access my profile? 

1.  Go to www.parkinsonsjourney.ca.

2.  Enter your email address and your password in the click "Log In" tab.

3. Then select the activity in the "My Activities" tab. A blue menu will appear to the left of the screen. Click on "My Profile"

4. A blue menu will appear on the left side of the screen. Click on ‘’My profile’’

üI participated in the annual event in the past. Can I access my old account ? 

If you have participated in the first edition (in 2016) of Parkinson’s Journey you have access to your profile. On the other hand, if your participation dates from more than 2015, you’ll have to register. (See '' How to register '').

ü How to customize my profile or my team profile?

* Please note that only the captain can change the team information.

 

You can :

·         Customize your profile or team photo;

·         Add a video;

·         Add the logos of your partners;

·         Change your fundraising goal;

·         Change your password and email associated with your registration.


ü How can I see the total donations I have collected online ? Can I change the e-mail address to which my profile is linked ? 
You need to access your profile (see '' How to access my profile'').

Select the "My Profile" section in the blue menu on the left side of the page. The donations collected will appear under the button ‘’edit my profile’’.

* To see the funds raised by your team, select the "My Team" section in the blue menu on the left. You will be able to see the donations collected online by your team. 

ü Can I change the e-mail address to which my profile is linked ? 

Yes. See the section '' How to customize my profile or my team profile''

 

FUNDRAISING

ü  Do I have a minimum fundraising goal to register ? 

While this is primarily a fundraiser for Parkinson's, there is no minimum required for both teams and individual participants. We encourage you to set a realistic goal, but do not underestimate your fundraising skills!    
 

ü  Is it possible to change my goal or my team's goal once registered ? 

Yes! See the section « How to customize my profile or my team profile? »


ü  Can I import my email contacts into my profile ? 

It is possible to import your contacts; you must export them from your email manager, and save a copy in a CSV file. You can then use this file to import your contacts into the Invitation tabs of your profile. (How to export contacts) 

To learn how to add your contacts to your profile, view our explanatory video or follow theses steps:

1-    To import your list, you have to access your profile and select the tab ‘’My contacts’’.

2-    Click on ‘’Send an invitation’’

3-   Click on ‘’import contacts’’, and a window will appear, from which you will be able to select your CSV formatted list.


SOLICIT MY SURROUNDINGS
ü  How can I send an e-mail to my friends and family to invite them to participate to the event or to support me ?

ü How can I invite friends and family to join my team ?

ü Do I have acces to a URL link that would allow my surroundings to directly access my profile to encourage me ? 

Yes, this link will be sent to you by email following your registration. You can then share it on your social networks or send it to your friends by email.

üHow do I manage my contact list ?

You have the option to import your contacts to your profile using a csv document. You will be able to see all the contacts you have already entered and their emails, as well as their donations and whether or not they participate in the event.


DONATIONS

ü How to donate online? 

There are three ways you can donate :

1-    To support a walker

2-    To support a team

3-    To support a regional organization

Online donation:

1.    You must access the website www.parkinsonsjourney.ca;

2.    Scroll down to find the Parkinson’s Journey region of your choice and press « Donate ».

3.    Select either participant, team or event.

It is also possible to donate by check or cash see below. 

For questions regarding tax receipts, see below.

ü How to donate by check or cash ?

If you wish to make a donation in cash or by check, you must give the desired amount and your contact details directly to the participant or team to be sponsored.

*Checks should be made out to your regional organization (eg, "Parkinson Montréal-Laval" or "Parkinson Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean").

The participant or team will be responsible for administering this donation (see below).

ü How can I administer a donation that is given to me directly ? 

You must accumulate all donations received in cash or by check and bring them with you on the day of the event. To do this, you must first fill out the solicitation form. To get it, please download it here.

If it is not possible for you to print this form, you can ask the Parkinson organization in your area to send you this form by mail or e-mail. Otherwise, please record all of your donors' information and record them on the day of the event at the reception table.

You can enter these donations into your online profile so that your thermometer takes them into account. To do this, see ''What is a pledge and what does it means ?'' below.

ü  Can I accept a donation from a compagny ?

Yes, it is the same process as receiving a donation from an individual.

If you receive the donation directly, enter the information and contact information for the company. The company can also make a donation online, as for individuals, by entering company information.

You can even thank this company on your profile, mentioning it in your message or by inserting their logo under "MY PARTNERS", in "EDIT MY PROFILE" (see above).

ü What is a pledge and what does it means? 

A promise of donation applies when a person in your circle promises you that she or he will give you a certain amount of money for the Parkinson’s Journey. You can then enter these pledges into your online profile so that your thermometer takes them into account.

You can also add donations received in cash or by check in the "My pledges" section of your online profile for your thermometer to take into account. See our tutorial video.

On the day of the event, you must bring these donations and contact details of your donors using the solicitation form (see above).

 ü Is it possible to delete or modify a pledge ?

TAX RECEIPTS
üIs there a minimum amount required to receive a tax receipt ? 

For all donations of $ 20 or more, the donor will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
